The Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind (RNZFB) Board, congratulates Martine Abel-Williamson on being successfully elected to the position of President of the World Blind Union (WBU).
Martine will take over twenty years of leadership, experience and passion with her, to this important global position. It is a fantastic achievement for both Martine and for New Zealand as a whole, as she continues to demonstrate her commitment to making a difference for all blind, deafblind and low vision people across the world.
Martine has been involved at the Asia Pacific Regional level of the WBU since 2008 before being elected to the position of Treasurer of the WBU four years ago.
As a blind leader, professional advocate and Human Rights advisor, she brings empathy, understanding and knowledge to this role. The RNZFB Board wishes her success in the next four years of her international work.
