Vision Bus launch

Exciting news! This afternoon with our peers at Auckland Uni, we launched Vision Bus Aotearoa! The bus will serve students in low decile schools throughout Tāmaki Mākaurau. It addresses a long-standing gap in eye care services for children in Auckland. The bus programme focuses on community education, innovation, research and improving access to eye health and vision care.

“The bus will catch the kids who fall through the gaps.” says Professor Steven Dakin.

Over 4,000 students have had their first ever eye health exam through the School of Optometry and Vision Science’s community optometry programme and the bus has already helped students with eye conditions improve their vision and reading.
