Leaving a gift in your Will is a powerful way to make a lasting impact on the causes that matter most to you. For Jennifer and Charles, the decision to include Blind Low Vision NZ in their Wills was both emotional and practical. The journey toward this decision began with a shared love for dogs, a passion that has shaped their lives in countless ways.

Canine Companions

As lifelong “doggy people,” Jennifer and Charles have shared their home with eight beloved canine companions, each bringing joy, love, and a unique presence into our lives. Their current four-legged family member, Hoover, a charming seven-year-old Basset Hound, holds a special place in their hearts. It was this love for dogs that ignited the search for a charity that could provide others with the support and companionship of these incredible animals.

Choosing Blind Low Vision NZ

After careful consideration, they discovered Blind Low Vision NZ and were drawn to their guide dog programme. Recognising the practical impact guide dogs have on the lives of individuals who are blind or have low vision, they felt a deep connection to the cause. It was a moment of realisation that prompted Jennifer and Charles to consult a solicitor and update their Wills to include provisions for Blind Low Vision NZ.

A Lasting Legacy

In crafting their Wills, they made provisions for their seven nieces and nephews and expressed their desire to leave a proportion of what’s left to Blind Low Vision NZ. A specific focus was on supporting the guide dog breeding program, recognizing the financial challenges associated with breeding dogs. Additionally, they aim to contribute to the matching and training program, understanding the importance of carefully pairing dogs with individuals based on temperament.

Accessible Library Services

Beyond guide dog initiatives, Jennifer and Charles are equally passionate about supporting Blind Low Vision NZ’s Accessible Library Services. Recognising the significant hardship individuals face when losing their sight and being unable to read, we believe in the transformative power of accessible literature.

Leaving a gift in your Will is a way to leave a legacy of love and support for the causes that resonate with your heart. For Jennifer and Charles, Blind Low Vision NZ represents an organisation that embodies the values they hold dear. They encourage others to consider the profound impact they can make by including a charitable gift in their Will, ensuring that their passion and compassion endure long into the future.
