Thanks to your support, our skilled specialists help people like Lisa learn to overcome obstacles while out and about with their white canes.

Every day, thousands of Kiwis with blindness or low vision navigate obstacles like tree roots, damaged pavements, abandoned e-scooters and other ever-changing stuff that pops up left, right and centre.

In 2022, Lisa’s sight suddenly disappeared. She was struggling with daily tasks until a phone call connected her with specialist Jill Baldwin, who brought training, hope and most importantly – a white cane.

“My white cane is like magic. It guides me wherever I want to go. It will tell me the surface’s texture, and if a pavement is rough – it’s never failed me,” says Lisa.

Thanks to your help, we’re making streets safer so everyone can get out and about with confidence.
