The downlow on Uno

Guide Dogs

With help like yours, Uno continues to mature into the beginnings of a disciplined, well-trained Guide Dog of the future.

This beautiful butterscotch Labrador has had a busy, fun-filled time over summer, staying at different locations, taking trains and buses to the mall, and having lots of free running on the beach. Uno is certainly a sociable boy, which makes doggy distractions a bit of a challenge, but he is slowly improving his focus and discipline.

Out and about he enjoys time doing destination walks, and knows certain shops within the mall now. He’s extra good at settling in cafes – with plenty of practice and a particular love for Muffin Break!

He also spent a bit of time in an apartment when his puppy raisers went away for a while, which he managed perfectly, and went out on adventures including seeing the new Paddington movie – which he apparently slept the entire way through. Loud noises, busy airports, and even Paddington Bear with his marmalade sandwich couldn’t distract this well-rounded dog!

Uno is practising his obedience responses in everyday situations, on walks and in the house. These skills will be the building blocks for when Uno starts his formal training. His puppy raiser is continuing with his basic manners as this will be of major benefit to the Uno’s future owner – and he’s tracking well.

Uno is practicing to become more trustworthy in the home and require slightly less supervision. His puppy raiser is taking Uno on many trips, visiting friends and staying in motels, which test his training to the full.

He’s certainly numero uno in everyone’s hearts!
