This is one busy Guide Dog.

Guide Dogs

Gizmo, a white guide dog, stands on some lush green grass whilst on a lead.

Gizmo’s social calendar is jam-packed.

Gizmo’s social calendar has been very full since our last Pupdate. One highlight was a holiday to beautiful Whangamatā, where Gizmo developed a serious case of the zoomies while exploring the beach, splashing through the waves and spending quality time with his bestie, Cooper. Between seaside adventures, family outings and plenty of opportunities to sniff absolutely everything, this happy-go-lucky pup has been living his waggiest life.

Gizmo is working his paws off to be the very best boy he can be. For more than a year, he’s been part of a busy and growing household, where a new baby grandson arrived in April, another grandchild is due in September, and two energetic toddlers already keep everyone on their toes. Luckily, this gentle goofball has the sweetest nature and is wonderfully calm and careful around children.

March brought an unexpected adventure when Gizmo had to have some minor surgery on his eyes. He got through it like a trooper, and bravely wore his cone of shame for two whole weeks, lapping up all the extra attention. While a few cheeky stitches tried to slow him down during recovery, nothing could keep this determined future Guide Dog down for long. That’s our boy!

At 33kg and still growing, Gizmo is getting taller by the day. But it’s not his height that gets the most attention. It’s his unbelievably long tongue. All the better for licks, hey Gizmo?

Gizmo has also appointed himself Chief Neighbourhood Supervisor as he can often be found with his front paws on the balcony, keeping watch over everything happening below.

With his giant heart, waggy tail and endless curiosity, Gizmo steals so many hearts we might have to rename him Romeo.

Thank you for being part of Gizmo’s journey. Your support is helping him learn, grow and take on new adventures every day, and we can’t wait to share his next chapter with you.
