About our street collections

Today at least three more New Zealanders will be told they’re losing their sight. The aim of Blind Low Vision NZ is to provide practical and emotional support to these people, enabling them to face their future with confidence.

Our street collections – Blind Low Vision Week in October and the Guide Dog Puppy Appeal in March – play a vital role in funding these practical and emotional support services.

Blind Low Vision Week is the time of year when we celebrate New Zealanders with vision loss living their lives without limits. It’s an opportunity for people to share their stories, and inspire others to do the same. During Guide Dog Puppy Appeal, we hit the streets to raise funds towards the breeding and training of guide dogs, and raise awareness around the incredible role these dogs play in the lives of those living with vision loss.

With your help during these collections, we can reach more people who are blind, deafblind, or have low vision in your community.
