June is just around the corner, and here at Blind Low Vision NZ, we’re thrilled to be celebrating The Big Shout-Out 2025, a nationwide campaign to recognise the incredible contributions of our volunteers across Aotearoa.
What is the Big Shout-Out?
From the first day of June through to the last, The Big Shout-Out invites New Zealanders to pause and thank the people who generously give their time, energy, and heart to help others. They are the companions, the guide dog boarders, the exercise partners, the community connectors — and so much more.
At Blind Low Vision NZ, our volunteers are at the heart of what we do. Whether it’s driving clients to appointments, helping to produce material in an accessible format, or being a friendly voice on the phone, our volunteers make a real difference every single day. Their support helps empower people who are blind, deafblind, or have low vision to live the life they choose.
The Big Shout-Out 2025
The Big Shout-Out runs alongside National Volunteer Week, which takes place from 15–21 June this year. The theme is Whiria te tangata, weaving the people together, and we think it couldn’t be more fitting. Every volunteer is a vital thread in the fabric of our community, helping to create a more inclusive, caring, and connected Aotearoa.
To every volunteer who gives their time to Blind Low Vision NZ, thank you. This month, and always, we’re celebrating you.
