Andrea relies on her guide dog. Now more guide dogs can rely on her.
Andrea has been no stranger to Blind Low Vision NZ’s services for much of her later adult life, and this direct connection has led her to leaving a gift in her Will. Andrea had been thinking about this for a while and landed on the decision after some careful consideration.
“Vision loss is all-encompassing in one’s day-to-day life,” she says, “and guide dogs are so important, to help with independence, avoid isolation and to create that wonderful human and animal bond.”
“BLVNZ has helped me a lot, especially recently, and I know how vital the service is. It’s one way to give back what I have received, and I’d love other people to be able to access that too. Low vision is such a big part of my life, and having needed the services so much myself and understanding that others need the service too, as well as the associated cost, it seemed like a no-brainer.”
