Experience the final Auckland Theatre Company show of the year: Tiri: Te Araroa, Woman Far Walking by celebrated author Witi Ihimaera.

An extraordinary mapping of Aotearoa through the eyes of Te Tiriti o Waitangi Mahana – her story, our history.

Directed by Katie Wolfe (Ngāti Mutunga, Ngāti Tama), this new adaptation follows 185-year-old Tiri Mahana from her birth at the signing of Te Tiriti o Waitangi to present-day Aotearoa. Starring award-winning actor Miriama McDowell (Ngāti Hine, Ngāpuhi) and supported by Nī Dekkers-Reihana (Ngāpuhi, Te Rarawa, Ngāti Porou), the production explores memory, family, and resilience.

For the first time, the play will be performed in both English and te reo Māori, with each version capturing the enduring spirit of Te Ao Māori.

Woven into an emotional tapestry, this remarkable work shines once again in an unprecedented new production – a national treasure that continues to resonate across time and place.
