Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of New Zealanders who are blind, deafblind, or have low vision? If so, The Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind (RNZFB) aims to fill three vacancies for general seats on the Board, and we are seeking dedicated individuals who share our vision and mission. If you’re interested, we invite you to participate in the RNZFB Candidate’s Information Day.

Location: Auckland (Venue or online TBC)

What to expect

This informative event will provide insights into the RNZFB’s governance model, the responsibilities of the Board, and our strategic plan. Key topics include:

  • Understanding the history and governance model of RNZFB.
  • The vital role of the Board in making a difference.
  • Ensuring effective services and financial sustainability.
  • Prioritising client-focused initiatives.

Who can be on the RNZFB Board?

Anyone, including a non-member, is eligible to become a Director of the Foundation unless they are:

  • Under 18 years of age;
  • An undischarged bankrupt;
  • Prohibited from being a director under the provisions of the Companies Act 1993;
  • Subject to a property order made under the provisions of the Protection of Personal and Property Rights Act 1988;
  • Subject to a compulsory treatment order made under Part II of the Mental Health (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act 1992;
  • A person that has been convicted of a crime involving dishonesty as defined in section 2(1) of the Crimes Act 1961, unless that conviction is more than 10 years old; or
  • Currently an employee of Blind Low Vision NZ.
