We’re thrilled to share the success of our Paws for Purpose event in Christchurch! This year, we asked some talented South Island artists to transform our iconic (now decommissioned) Trudy Dogs into unique works of art – and wow, did they deliver!
The Paws for Purpose Art Dogs were displayed at key spots around the city, including a stunning piece created by one of our members, Sally Hughes. Sally’s design, Quake Dogs, featured a striking black-and-white minimalist style with different dog breeds. It was so popular, it kicked off a bidding war among art lovers!

After the exhibition, the Trudy Dogs found permanent homes with the lucky winners of our Paws for Purpose Christchurch online and live art auctions. Thanks to the amazing support from our community, we raised over $43,000! Proceeds came from ticket sales, donations, and the auctions themselves.
The event came to life on Wednesday, 21st August at The Tannery. Guests enjoyed a close-up view of all the art dogs, met the artists – including Sally – and bid on our five premium dogs in the live auction.
Most importantly, every dollar raised will go towards breeding, raising, and training Blind Low Vision NZ Guide Dogs.
Missed the event? You can still catch all the best moments from Paws for Purpose in our video recap!
