Thanks to your paw-some support, the guide dog puppies have been super busy!

Loves: Learning to be a guide dog

Last year’s Pupstar Harris is now at his next level of training and living with one of our Guide Dog staff. He’s learning to stop at kerbs and turn right and left on command. He has a loveable nature and likes nothing better than catching up with his doggy friends. Keep up the good work Harris.

Loves: Her toys, her bed and a good snore

Pia continues to do well and is walking confidently in new situations. She loves going to school and meeting all the kids. Pia’s been very busy getting out and about on her regular training walks, so she loves her downtime in between. After getting comfy on her bed, you can often hear Pia snoring loudly.

Loves: Free running and is quick to learn

Matty has been on his first flight to Wellington and was perfectly behaved. Well done Matty. He’s also a quick learner. But being a typical teenager, he doesn’t always remember everything he’s learned. He’s also doing great with his free running – if he sees other dogs Matty says a quick hello and then he’s on his way.

Loves: Working hard and getting ready to graduate

Yates is in formal training and may be ready to graduate as a guide dog soon. He is picking up all his basic guiding tasks and is a conscientious worker. Yates is a gentle giant that we hope will go on to become an excellent working guide dog. Our paws are crossed for you Yates!

Loves: Meeting people and going to school

Rita is busy getting out and about. She recently had heaps of fun doing the coast-to-coast walkway with a school group and visited Auckland International Airport. She wasn’t fazed by the crowds. Well done Rita. Rita loves to greet everyone she passes so her puppy raisers are helping her learn to stay calm and walk past things.
