Red Puppy Appeal
We always need volunteer street collectors and coordinators for our Red Puppy Appeal street collection.
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Blind Low Vision NZ, however volunteer recruitment is on hold until further notice.
(Auckland, Waikato and Bay of Plenty only)
Are you able to give one of our puppies a loving home for 12 to 18 months, before they go onto their formal training?
Taking the puppy everywhere with you will help introduce them to the situations they will face as a guide dog.
You will have full support from our dedicated, experienced staff while the pup is in your care. Food, registration and vet costs for puppies are covered.
Can you provide a loving home for one of our dogs who has been chosen to become the parent of the next generation?
You could be the person that takes one of these special dogs into your home – their guardian. You would care for him or her and make sure it was available for important guide dog programme requirements. Your help would bring many new aspiring guide dogs into the world.
Could you give a guide dog a home for a short time, perhaps from a week to three months?
Sometimes we need a temporary home for a dog. Their Puppy Raiser or Breeding Stock Guardian may be on holiday, or there could be a break before moving on to the next step in training.
Could you help us keep our Training Kennels spick and span?
Assist our staff at the Guide Dogs Training kennels with general housekeeping, cleaning, and assistance with dogs for 4 hours per week.
Do you have a love for dogs? Are you confident around large, playful, sometimes boisterous young dogs and very young puppies?
Help our staff by doing laundry, cleaning and general housekeeping tasks.
Help our dogs by providing daily exercise and enrichment and if appropriate help with socialising our young puppies. 4 Hours per week.
Do you love gardening or property maintenance? Or could you perhaps help out in our office with some administration?
Maybe you could transport dogs around Auckland in one of our fleet cars?
With a minimum of 2 hours per week, the possibilities are endless!
